2019-2020 Cross Country Season Information

Please fill out HMS Cross Country Documents (below) by August 22nd
1st Practice: Tuesday, August 27th after school.
Practices will be held on school property from 2:45-4:00pm (4:30 1st two weeks)
Dual sport athletes may leave earlier
Athletes can be picked up in front or in the back of the Middle School
Parent Meeting on September 4th at 5 p.m.
Last meet is on October 19th
Awards Banquet October 21st 4:00-5:45 p.m.

Cross Country Summer Workout(If you are not participating in GRR)
You will need to run everyday starting on June 18th. Summer Workout Schedule.
Participation Requirements:
You MUST have a current Physical on file in the M.S. Office (Sports Physical)
You must have paid your $100 Participation Fee for the year (please make check out to Hartland
Consolidated Schools)
You must keep your grades up
Cross Country Shirt MUST be purchased by August 30th - Spirit of Livingston
You need a good pair of running shoes (not cross-trainers) - Cross Country shoe recommendations
You will need sweats (a top and a bottom)
You will need cold weather clothing and wet weather clothing
We have 10 meets, usually one per week.  There are dual meets, 2 teams, and invitationals
with up to 20 teams
We run a 2 mile varied terrain race.  Our home course starts and finishes near the Hartland
High School Baseball fields.

Highlander Way Meet - October 2, 2019

Congratulations to the boys and girls HMS CC teams in their wet wins over Highlander Way middle School.
For the 3rd time this year the HMS girls ran a perfect race defeating Highlander Way 15-50 to remain undefeated at 4-0. Next Wednesday will be their most competitive meet of the season which is home against Brighton, who is also undefeated.  The girls ran fast.  Every single one of our girls ran new personal records.
Kassidy Delplace scorched the field taking 1st for HMS setting a new personal record running 12:41. Kassidy not only set a new personal record, but she is now 7th on the 8th grade girls All Time Fastest list. 7th grader Sophia McKenna also set her new personal record running 12:43.  A 12:43 places Sophia as 6th on the 7th grade All Time Fastest list.  Rounding out the top five who all ran their personal records was:  3rd place 7th grader Jo Jo Wisniewski, 4th was 7th grader Zoe Howard and 5th was Karolina Spiewak.
The boys also ran very well running 30 personal records and beating Highlander way 26-38.  Running 1st for HMS and 2nd overall was Trevor Bratt who set his new personal record running a blazing time of 11:02. Trevor now moved up to 3rd All Time Fastest 8th Grade boy at HMS.  Also, not to be outdone running 2nd for HMS and 3rd overall was Cade Rigonan who ran a 11:15 putting Cade 6th on the HMS All Time Fastest 8th grade boy list. Rounding out the top five who all ran their personal records was: 3rd place Caden Walker, 4th place Vance King, and 5th was Kale Black.

Parker Middle School Meet - September 18, 2019

The HMS CC Girls and Boys are now BOTH 2-0 after their wonderful performances against Parker M.S.  The Girls, for the 2nd time in a row, scored a perfect score, winning 15 to 50, and the Boys won 16 to 45.
WOW, the girls team had an outstanding meet.  ALL HMS GIRL RUNNERS BEAT THEIR PERSONAL RECORDS!  For the girls, 7th grader Zoe Howard took first overall with a personal season record of 13:08.  Finishing 2nd overall was 7th grader Sophia McKenna.  Finishing 3rd overall was Kassidy Delplace.  Finishing 4th was Karolina Spiewak and finishing 5th was 7th grader Jo Jo Wisniewski.
Our 8th grade boys dominated the meet against Parker M.S..  Trevor Bratt took 1st place overall for the second meet in a row, with a time of 11:41.  Finishing close behind, in 2nd place, was Cade Rigonan, with a time of 11:44.  Finishing 3rd overall, with his personal best time of 11:48, was Kyle Greig.  Finishing 4th overall, and almost breaking the 12 minute mark, was Vance King, with a time of 12:09.  Finishing 5th, and getting into the top five, was Caden Walker, with a time of 12:25.
